Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a very gentile skin technique that is both rhythmic and relaxing. It calms the nervous system is never painful. The technique is not only gentile but also very precise and treatment times vary from 45 minutes to 2 hours depending on clinical picture. Bandaging and when appropriate compression garments are involved following the manual treatment for treatment of lymphedema and venus insufficiency and exercises can be given.

What does MLD do?

Manual Lymphatic Drainage manually effects the lymphatic vessels by moving the skin in a very precise and rhythmic way decompressing the tissue. This can be useful to decrease side effects and speed healing with post operation and acute injuries. With situations where the lymphatic system has been compromised due to cancer treatments/ removal of lymph nodes or primary lymphedema fluid is moved thru different pathways to accommodate the alterations and achieve fluid reduction.

*Initial consultation and treatment is generally 90 minutes and is adjusted as necessary to a shorter duration.
